Is it the end for pick-your-own?

Whilst it looks like a good year for soft-fruit-farms, all's not well in the land of pick-your-own farms in the north.

A farmer in South Cumbria says that while it's a bumper year for soft fruit farms, there's a risk that pick-your-own-farms could be on their way out in the North.

It's thought the credit crunch will mean picking your own fruit is likely to be busier than ever, but only in the South of England where there's a longer season to reap the benefit.

Gordon Capstick from Park House Farm in Milnthorpe says that after almost 20 years of offering pick-your-own berries this year will be make-or-break for him.

Listen in as he talks to 成人快手 Radio Cumbria's Gordon Swindlehurst about how the weather over the past few years has put a strain on the crops and why people don't go out to pick fruit any more.

You'll also hear what Gordon intends to replace his pick-your-own business with.

Park House Farm is now one of only three pick-your-own farms now left in the Milnthorpe area after the others closed.
