Meet Stuart Linnell

Find out more about the man who wakes up Coventry and Warwickshire on Sunday mornings - Stuart Linnell.

Q: What's your name?

Stuart Linnell

Q: From?

Born in Birmingham, but I have lived in Coventry for 30 years.

Q: Star Sign?

Aquarius.

Q: Joined the Beeb in?

Three times, actually: First time in 1970 when 成人快手 local radio began, second time in 1995 after many years in commercial radio, and again in 2009 - so I keep coming back like either a bad penny, a prodigal son, or maybe I'm just a boomerang!

Q: What has your career involved so far?

I started by making the tea and answering the phones on the Saturday afternoon sports show at what was then 成人快手 Radio Birmingham (now 成人快手 WM).听Since then I have, variously, been a a Sports Editor, Programme Controller and Managing Director of a few commercial stations, but - most of all - I prefer what I do now - presenting live radio shows.听It's what I always wanted to do and I really enjoy it.

Q: What does your job involve?

Working with my producers, understanding (hopefully!) what I am supposed to be talking about, meeting and interviewing some interesting people and playing great (again, hopefully!) tunes.

Q: What do you like the most about 成人快手 Coventry & Warwickshire?

Two things - first and foremost the enthusiasm and involvement of our listeners, and second the highly professional team of people that work at the radio station every day to provide a great service of news, information, music and fun!

Q: What's your favourite place in Coventry and Warwickshire?

Gosh, there are so many - the Ricoh Arena (especially when the Sky Blues are doing well), Kenilworth, Stratford by the river, Burton Dassett - but probably my most favourite, the War Memorial Park where I walk my dogs most days.

Q: Who's your favourite person?

My wife is my best friend - and I love my sons greatly - but beyond the family, Michael Parkinson is my favourite broadcaster, Frank Sinatra is my favourite singer, The Beatles are my favourite group, Dustin Hoffman is my favourite actor and Stephen Fry - for being just an all-round amazingly impressive and talented person.

Q: What's your favourite hobby?

Don't really have what I would call a hobby, but I like listening to music, watching good TV, reading, eating out and - above all - walking and spending time with my dogs.

Q: Your favourite food?

Steak (medium rare, please) & chips.

Q: Your favourite drink?

Glass of good red wine (to complement the steak), although lately I've developed a taste for sugar-free Red Bull (probably to keep me awake when I'm doing an early shift).

Q: Favourite song?

I've Got You Under My Skin as sung by Frank Sinatra, although Fantasy by Gerard Kenny - a hit when I met my wife - is a close second.

Q: Favourite film?

Sorry, more than one again - The Graduate, Raging Bull and All The President's Men - all rank equally highly for me.

Q: Give us a fascinating fact about yourself:

The thing I'm proudest of is that when I was 14, with my Dad, I went to Buckingham Palace to see my Granddad receive his MBE from the Queen. Some 34 years later, I was simply amazed to be at the Palace again to receive my own MBE - from the same monarch!
