Kristy is the young acoustic sensation from Coventry who has left listeners and critics in complete awe and admiration of her talent. She is quickly and swiftly taking over Coventry's acoustic music scene. Playing her guitar since she was just seven years old, Kristy has now just graduated from Coventry University with a BA degree in Music Composition, and doesn't plan to stop here. Her first album, Emotional Gun, was released in March of this year, just before she was named artist of the month on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Coventry and Warwickshire’s Band of the Month in April. With many gigs lined up between this week and Christmas time, Kristy shows no sign of slowing down. And why should she? SensationalKristy has been hailed by many as one of the most talented acoustic singers to enter the Coventry music scene. ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ West Midlands Radio called her ‘a truly sensational talent,’ but girl next door Kristy assured me that it’s rather surreal to hear comments like this and that she has the support of a family who keeps her well grounded and down-to-earth. Kristy told me of her joy and relief at finishing and passing her degree and being able to move on and do what she really loves to do: perform. Girl Next Door…With a friendly face and a wonderful look, Kristy has the perfect combination of charisma, charm, and talent to hold an audience’s attention all night long. With an ever-growing fan base, it is totally understandable how incredibly easy it is to enjoy her presence. Kristy in the Open Centre She came in, almost straight out of last night’s gig but I would never have guessed that she’d been working late. She looked young and fresh in comfortable jeans, trainers, matched to a cool t-shirt and a scarf that I forgot to ask where she got! As we chatted away about life in general, and what she’s been up to, it felt like I was chatting to an old friend, rather than a new acquaintance who is almost famous! …but with a star qualityKristy may be the girl we can all relate to, but it is undeniable that she does have traits that nobody else does. While Kristy performed a beautiful song for us, which the album is named after, Emotional Gun, everyone in the Open Centre stopped what they were doing and glared, almost hypnotised by her sound.
Help playing audio/video Her musical presence is something that should be valued, because it was one of the few times an artist has been so deeply engrossed and so deeply a part of their performance. AppreciationBy the time it came for our meeting to end, I had already resolved that I was going to go to her next gig, and a grateful Kristy gave me a copy of her album in appreciation, which really says a lot about her as an artist. This gesture also really gave the sense that she is, like all of us, only human, who recognises the concepts of kindness and appreciation.
