Find out what's happening at the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Coventry & Warwickshire Open Centre during half-term.

Tuesday, 12 February 11am – 6pm
Dyslexia Action Drop In

Dyslexia Action will be available on Tuesday, 12 February to chat with anyone who would like information or advice about Dyslexia. Please drop in throughout the day. Age range 11am-6pm.

There will be 3 events running on the day:-

1-2pm - Children's workshop- come and play some games, find out more about dyslexia and how by learning through play together you can help dyslexia. Age range 6- 11years

3-4pm - Young peoples workshop- Come and find out about dyslexia, computer programmes and strategies that may help. Age range 12-16year olds.

5.30-6.15 - Dyslexia what you need to know- a talk from our Coventry Principal about dyslexia, warning signs and strategies that may help. This is targeted at adults that may have dyslexia, and parents of children who want to find out more.

The Noise Festival will be at the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Coventry & Warwickshire Open Centre as part of it's Call for Submissions campaign. The festival is open to young artists who are under 25-years-old and they can submit up to six pieces of work to the Noise website. It covers film, music, fashion, illustration, graphic design, writing, architecture and photography.

The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Coventry & Warwickshire Open Centre's IT facilities will be available for budding artists to submit their work. Noise accepts any work that can be downloaded digitally.

The judging begins in the summer of 2008 and selected work will then be showcased on the Noise Festival website and there will also be features throughout the festival's media partners.

Friday, 15 February - Spectacular Spud Day

Join in with ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Coventry & Warwickshire’s Spectacular Spud Day. Celebrating the humble potato all day, we will be exploring over 101 uses for a potato, national chip week and getting crafty with potatoes in our Open Centre.

Get hands on with potatoes in our Open Centre 10am – 12pm
• make your own ‘real’ Mr Potato Head
• create a card using potato stamps

Join in the Potato Olympics 12pm – 1pm
Are you tough enough to take part in ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Coventry & Warwickshire’s Potato Games?Ìý Fun for all the family, we’ll be holding our very own Olympics.
• Potato and Spoon Race
• Spud-putt
• Potato bowling
• Potato target shooting

How do you like your chips?

Jane Vickers will be standing in for Annie Othen while she's on holiday, but Friday still means retail therapy day - and on 15 February it will involve testing mashers, peelers and more potato products out in the Open Centre from 12pm.

Stay tuned to ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Coventry & Warwickshire throughout the day for more potato madness.... or perhaps that should be potato mashness?!

Grapevine’s WATS! project is asking you what’s your big idea and will even award £500 to the best one!

Do you have an idea which can help change people’s negative views on learning disabilities?

WATS! is running a competition to find the best ideas in Coventry from a group or individual.Ìý The best entries will be invited to pitch their ideas to a Dragon's Den style panel at the end of March, the winner will be supported to make their idea happen with cash and people!

The competition launch will take places at ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Coventry & Warwickshire’s Open Centre on Friday, 15 February between 1pm – 4pm. Come along for activities, nibbles, competition entries and get a goodie bag!!

Activities include badge making, postcard design, photo captions and WATS!
your big idea? workshops. The best entries will win a music voucher and you could try out WATS! messy myth-busting game based on I'm a celebrity Get Me Out of Here!

Grapevine is a local charity set up to help and support people with learning disabilities.Ìý They have a number of young people’s projects, one of these is WATS! which stands for ‘We’re all the same!’ It’s for young people with and without learning disabilities to work together on equal terms to examine and tackle prejudices.
