In Sara Beamish’s video we meet The Urban Rangers, a group of volunteers and council workers who promote the Coventry Canal Corridor. Patrolling Coventry Canal Sara is a passionate supporter of environmental and community projects and was awarded a Herbert Media Broadcast Bursary to make a film exploring this. In partnership with ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Coventry & Warwickshire she’s produced a brief insight into the group we could call the Wombles of the waterways. The Urban Rangers’ main areas of work are Longford Park and the canal corridor, but they also work in many of Coventry's other green spaces. They organise events and give out information to help the immediate community make the most of their canals and parks. As the video shows, a lot of their work is also protective, with mobile foot patrols to deal with incidents and a ‘rubbish barge’ to keep the canal clean and safe.
