Read a report of his day... I'm here at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday 17th March 2007 Coventry City are playing Barnsley I'm going to be shadowing the 'master of sport' Geoff Foster and I can't wait. Here is the story of my day. Daniel Stones My dad and I had to collect our press passes from the main entrance, we were met by a man in a funny suit. Met up with Geoff went to the press box where he set up the equipment, then he took us to the media centre and I had a drink of squash and a chocolate bar which was great, then I saw the area where all the reporters get together to interview the manager Iain Dowie. It looks like a mini cinema. We were sitting where the听journalists send their reports back via their laptops its like little boxes very private. We returned back to the press box in the Arena when I saw Iain Dowie come out and started putting cones down, so I ran down to the side of the pitch and asked Iain if he would sign my programme. He is so much bigger then I thought, it was amazing, then all of a sudden a sprinkler came out of the ground and drenched me! Back to the press box and I'm sitting on seat five which has my name on it (wicked) and more importantly next to Geoff Foster. Geoff Foster Geoff is now doing a sound check and is talking to the radio station. I have a look at the match programme and try and guess which players Iain Dowie will play today, Geoff gives me my own headphones (now I feel important) so I can hear what's going on. I'm now listening to Hawaii 5-0 and at 2pm, Geoff does his sports show live from the Ricoh. At 2.15 we are given the team sheet my dad guessed the team right. Geoff writes out the team formation on a piece of paper, today Coventry are playing a 4-4-2. Coventry City and Barnsley then come out for warm up exercises in the sunshine, Coventry's warm up is very hard and he pushes them to their full potential (word I got off Match of the Day)! 3pm and it's game on with Geoff and Adam Dent doing the commentary. A lady comes round with the attendance number (21,609) What a game Coventry 3-0 up at half time with goals from Tabb, Mifsud and Adebola, The second half starts and another goal from Adebola to make it 4-0. Barnsley score a soft goal 4-1 and that's how it ends. Brilliant result. Geoff and I now go back to the media centre to interview Iain Dowie and I shook his hand (very firm handshake!!). Geoff interviewed him and then sent his report back to the radio station. I shook Geoff's hand and said Thank you and we left. I've had a brilliant day and maybe if Geoff could teach me all he knows then I'm sure it could become the Geoff and Dan's show!
