Steven Parkinson on stage This honest and warm video follows one man’s journey from unemployment to independence, with plenty of laughs along the way. The film’s director Steven Parkinson reflects on camera his journey through urban life to his new found career as a stand-up comedian. From drop out, to Peugeot worker, to dole queue, he describes the roles and attitudes that have shaped his life and, ultimately, continue to shape his comedy. Revealed in interviews and on-stage footage, this honest and warm video gets us close to a great personality. Directed by Steven Parkinson this video was funded by ‘Screen Rootz’, part of the British Film Institute’s national ‘Blackworld’ initiative, which celebrates black and Asian creativity and talent in film and television. The scheme is the brainchild of Coventry-based production company, Frontline AV. The company also manages Comedy Rootz at Dogma, and Rootz Theatre productions at the Belgrade. last updated: 06/06/2008 at 12:38 You are in: Coventry and Warwickshire > Your Films > Standing up for change |
