The guide dog is a friend and helpmate David Kelly from Coventry is embarking on the training that will make a huge difference to his life. In this video series we follow his progress with guide dog Freddy, provided by the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Trainer Mitch puts the pair through their paces, first from a hotel base in Leamington Spa and , eventually, back home, where Freddy faces the extra challenge of living with another guide dog, belonging to David's wife, Lesley. The training goes through basic obedience, quiet strolls, an obstacle course and busy shopping areas. At each point, the relationship is tested and needs the full support and experience of Mitch. Mitch and David Over the past 75 years, the lives of over 25,000 visually impaired people have been transformed by the independence a guide dog provides. At the moment there are over four and a half thousand working guide dog partnerships in the UK.
