Taking their name from Jack Kerouac's seminal novel On The Road, Jamson's Nook play a unique brand of groove-laden latin electronic indie funk! The Nook are certainly a breath of fresh air in the local scene and offer a sound that is distinct and different from the majority of bands around. Jamson's Nook are: Ben Wainwright – Vocals/Guitars, Tim Ramsbottom - Bass/Percussion, Karen Milne - Drums/Percussion, Vince – Decks/Percussion/Vocals. About the band Ben and Karen began the venture several moons ago and played around with ideas for a year or two. Then Ben did the conventional back-packing trip to Australia and came back with renewed vigour to get something under way.

Meanwhile Karen was becoming something of a drumming sensation. After outstripping her drum teacher, she soon graduated to being a drum tutor herself. The two of them got together again and Jamson's Nook were formed. An early change of personnel saw Tim join on bass, with Vince becoming a part of the group in late 2005, giving them a more electronic sound. "The guitar based indie-rock market is saturated. Not to say that there's not any good bands out there, there's just a lot of them", bassist Tim told us. "All being in our mid to late 20s, its highly likely that we were all sat in the back of a car in the 80s listening to Paul Simons Gracelands..." | Tim - Jamson's Nook |
"With Karen's mastery of things like clave, soca and other weird rhythm patterns that the rest of use have never heard of, the Latin edge we carry comes quite naturally." Influences Perhaps not surprisingly for a band with such a different sound, Jamson's Nook cite a wide range of musical influences: "We all come from different backgrounds musically and as a result all have very different influences, but somewhere in amongst that we’ve got some common ground."

"All being in our mid to late 20s, its highly likely that we were all sat in the back of a car in the 80s listening to Paul Simon's Gracelands at some point... They say their music is the perfect soundtrack to both hazy summers and cold winter nights and we don't disagree. Listen to Jamson's Nook The band appeared on Vic Minett's show where they had a chat and played two live tracks in the studio, even letting Vic make a guest appearance on triangle.
