The Beer Engine in Coventry is a good place to see up and coming local bands. The current owners took over the pub two years ago. Since then, the Beer Engine has gone from strength to strength, finishing runner up in the Godiva Awards and being listed in the National good Beer Guide. The Beer Engine has a large garden at the rear of the pub which it hopes to use for festivals in the summer. There is also听art exhibition space, where several local artists have already displayed their work. Regular nights Bands play on Thursday and Saturday nights, as well as the occasional Friday Thursday features acoustic acts or bands from outside the mainstream, such as metal, goth or folk bands. Saturday and some Friday's feature covers bands as well as some original groups. How do I get a gig? Send a demo and information about your band to the venue. They are keen to promote local bands who play original material. The venue will pay all bands for Saturday night gigs. They try to pay bands on a Thursday too, though this depends on the crowd as entry to all gigs at the venue is free.
