Meet Keith Wedgebury

You're sure to have heard Keith, aka Wedge, on air. And he's got his own show called Wedge's Warwickshire which is broadcast every Sunday lunchtime. Discover more about his passion for morris dancing and his Lottery dreams!

Q: What's your name?
A: Keith Wedgebury – (The Wedge).
Q: From?
A: Alcester.
Q: Star Sign?
A: Libra
Q: Joined the Beeb in?
A: Unofficially in 1989 - they finally caved in in 1992!
Q: What has your career involved so far?
A: I read that the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ wanted correspondents and started sending in stories about village fetes. I then sent in a story on a hen and cock night at the local social club at Great Alne and they called back straight away! The standard was set!
Q: What does your job involve?
A: Jack of all trades master of none! I’ve done it all: working in the radio car, reporting - they even had me reading a news story live (this now forms part of a ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ outtakes tape on how not to red the news!). I’ve had Peter Mandelson, Robin Cook, Terry Wait and Michael Palin in the hot seat and I once nearly ran of over the Duke of York at the Royal Show - but he was jaywalking!
Q: What's your favourite place in Coventry and Warwickshire?
A: Warmington Sheep dip.
Q: Who's your favourite person?
A: Has to be people I meet - Bill and Rita Meadows, (if they have pumpkin pie on the table), Bill Mailin of Alcester always has a good tale - there are others, Paul Bryan the air traffic controller come morris man from Ilmington and many more!
Q: What's your favourite hobby?
A: Day dreaming.
Q: Your favourite food?
A: Love sizzling steak from the Crown at Claverdon and cheesecake from the Red Lion, Northend (prices and portions are great, but mileage is a bit high!).
Q: Your favourite drink?
A: Red Bull and ice (trouble is I don’t sleep nights very well).
Q: Favourite song?
A: The Good the Bad and the Ugly soundtrack (but only when I'm driving on the Fosse Way).
Q: Favourite film?
A: Whisky Galore (like a dram meself).
Q: Give us a fascinating fact about yourself:
A: I'm going to win the Lottery and go part-time and then buy all the technical equipment I might ever need and wind up all my colleagues. Would I retire? No way!
