An Aquatic Warbler

Weather Disrupts Migration

The bad weather is proving difficult for migrating birds arriving to rest at a nature reserve in West Cornwall. August is an important month for roosting at听 the RSPB's Marazion Marshes near Penzance.

Wildlife experts听 have been ringing rare Aquatic Warblers using special nets.

There are thought to be just 10,000 aquatic warblers left worldwide.

In Cornwall, areas have been assigned special protection status to help the birds find safe places to rest between long migration flights.

RSPB Warden Dave Flumm has been speaking to 成人快手 Radio Cornwall's Hannah Stacey....

Concerns are being raised about the rapid decline of wading birds around the Cornish coast. The RSPB says several species have stopped migrating here, and it's a stark warning of climate change.

The RSPB says the number of Dunlin and Ringed Plover in places like the Hayle estuary are affected. Surveys show the number of Dunlins have fallen by twenty one percent.

Although this used to be the UK's most popular wading bird in winter, the levels are now at their lowest. The charity says the birds are migrating elsewhere in Europe where conditions are more suitable for them.

It says birds like chaffinches, blue tits, robins and swallows are also laying their eggs earlier - and that it's all a warning of a dangerous change to our climate.
