Mr Foley and his owner Jenny Blackhall have been appearing all over Cornwall raising 拢2,000 for the charity. Mr Foley, the 15-month old Leonberger famous for pulling a cartload of cash for the Precious Lives appeal, joined more than 30 dogs at the event, and scooped the prize for largest dog. Local vet David Cromey from Head & Head in Helston judged the dogs in various categories, from 鈥渃utest鈥 to 鈥渂est dressed鈥 and "dog which looks most like its owner".
Mr Foley and his owner Jenny Blackhall have been appearing all over Cornwall, so far raising 拢2,000 for the Precious Lives appeal, which will go towards building a new hospice in Cornwall. Sponsorship cash from the Walkies event is still being counted up, but is expected to be a good step in the right direction for CHSW鈥檚 Precious Lives appeal. Trevarno鈥檚 event co-ordinator Cilla George said: "Mr Foley certainly created a stir, but all the dogs deserve recognition for their efforts. The dogs; Buddy, Pebbles, Maisie, Winnie and Lacey "They were all very well-behaved and certainly enjoyed sniffing and scampering around the gardens. "Thanks to Mr Cromey for judging our competition, fingers crossed we will have raised plenty of cash for a new hospice in Cornwall." Children鈥檚 Hospice South West鈥檚 fundraising manager Mary Murfin said: "We're so pleased that the dogs and their owners enjoyed themselves and that Trevarno has chosen to support us this year. "The money raised from this and others taking place across Cornwall will go towards our 拢5 million target, and will be spent on a new hospice for children in the county with life-limiting illnesses." last updated: 27/03/2008 at 09:06 SEE ALSOYou are in: Cornwall > Local Radio > Round Of A-Paws |
