The Cornish Pirates have signed a declaration to tackle climate change as part of their commitment to save energy and reduce their environmental footprint. Working with local energy charity Community Energy Plus, the Pirates have sign the 3rd Sector Declaration on Climate Change to publicly affirm the importance of urgent action to deliver behaviour change at all levels to combat climate change. The commitment is also to adopt strategies to reduce their own carbon footprint, support local targets for greenhouse gas emissions, and work with local government to advocate for environment and social justice. Another aspect of the agreement is to inspire and encourage the local community to lead greener lifestyles.ÌýThe team are doing this by: * Supporting Energy Saving Week * Energy Saving information to be added to match day programmes * Call to action during Energy Saving Week on the Pirates’ website * Permanent signage at their match day grounds in Camborne Rob McEvoy, Marketing Manager for the Cornish Pirates said, "We are delighted to be involved with Community Energy Plus, as we think that not only is it important to help combat climate change, but hopefully we could encourage others to look at their actions and commit to change. We are looking forward to the Energy Audit and hope that this will show us how we can adapt whilst committing to bring Premiership Rugby to Cornwall." last updated: 22/10/07 SEE ALSOYou are in: Cornwall > Planet Cornwall > Planet Cornwall > Tackling Climate Change |
