The 'Cobham Formation', including the Serco FRADU Black Seahawks and FR Aviation Falcons, won the prestigious King Hussein Memorial Sword, a trophy which is awarded annually for the best overall display, at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), one of the largest military air displays in the world. RNAS Culdrose Pilots pick up their award The Hawk pilots, all Serco employees, were absolutely delighted to have won the award, having beaten off first class competition from around the world, including the Red Arrows and display teams from Italy, Spain and the USA.Ìý Their day job is to provide realistic airborne threat simulations as part of Royal Navy training exercises.Ìý Team members practise in their spare time and this year had only five opportunities to train together before RIAT.ÌýÌý Black Seahawk Team leader Martin Stoner said:Ìý"We were just so proud and thrilled to have been honoured, not least because we were up against the very best display teams in the world.Ìý We have been aiming to win a trophy at RIAT for many years, but it was beyond our wildest dreams to win the ‘best of the best’.Ìý" The general public will be able to see their award winning display at the annual Culdrose Air Day on Wednesday 1 August. last updated: 27/07/07 SEE ALSOYou are in: Cornwall > About Cornwall > About Cornwall > Best Of The Best |
