Most of them lived rough until a Camborne-based charity, The New Connection, gave them emergency accommodation. During the past six months the students have all gained qualifications, and received their awards at a special ceremony held in Camborne.

Former homeless client Barry Sanderson says: "Back in January I was sleeping rough and was very depressed. If it wasn't for The New Connection offering me crisis accomodation I don't know what would have happened to me. I'm so happy to have got my qualifications and a place to live. My life's been turned around." "One group has even made a film, which will have its first showing at the ceremony. As all our award winners have been homeless, and the majority had no qualifications at all, this is a terrific achievement." The New Connection is a division of Coastline Housing and has over ten years’ experience helping the single homeless in Cornwall. Based in Camborne, the organisation has a range of projects across county, and offers crisis accommodation to around 500 people every year. last updated: 20/07/07 SEE ALSOYou are in: Cornwall > About Cornwall > About Cornwall > ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖless Success
