Boadi has given birth but unfortunately her seal pup was still born. Latest Statement from Gweek Seal Sanctuary:"Sometime on Monday morning Boadicea, a Patagonian Sea Lion at the National Seal Sanctuary gave birth to a female pup. "It is our sad news to report that the pup was still born, but a post mortem will confirm the exact cause of death Franzy feeds Boadi "Boadicea is doing fine and is feeding well and the vet has been in to check Boadicea and prescribed a precautionary cause of antibiotics and extra iron tablets." It's always a busy time at the National Seal Sanctuary in Gweek. The centre has been rescuing seal pups and adults for nearly 50 years. Last year long term resident Carus the sea lion lost his partner. The Sanctuary was keen to make sure he didn't get lonely and so an appeal was launched to find a suitable partner for Carus. Carus enjoys the sun, and awaits fish "Boadi looked perfect on paper and as soon as they met it was love at first sight," smiles Rachael Vine was the Seal Sanctuary. Move over Posh and Becks - the romantic pair even made it into the photos section of OK magazine. But it was a love story with a twist. Boadi was only at the Sanctuary for a few weeks but had been piling on the weight. Staff soon confirmed the sea lion was in the final stages of pregnancy.
