'Vitalise' is a day centre, farm and adventure holiday park in Lanlivery near St Austell which provides support for children and adults with learning, physical and sensory difficulties. A grant from the 成人快手 Radio Cornwall Appeal allowed the centre to build a polytunnel and some new farm equipment.

The WRVS Meals on Wheels service caters for 300 people across Cornwall. The group says they produce 3000 meals a month. A 成人快手 Radio Cornwall Appeal grant allowed the organisation to buy new thermal boxes to ensure the meals always arrive nice and hot, even in remote locations.

Money raised by 成人快手 Radio Cornwall listeners has also been put to good use in St Austell. The ABC Residents Association has transformed its estate in Bethel over the last few years by bringing younger and older residents together.听 The grant from the appeal meant every child on the estate was given a gift from the residents association.

In 2006 The 成人快手 Radio Cornwall Appeal sponsored the training of five volunteer lifesavers with the RNLI. The funding was provided as part of the 成人快手's Sea Sense campaign in Cornwall.

Cornwall Community Foundation

The 成人快手 Radio Cornwall Appeal works closely with the Foundation. Since 2004 CCF has been giving grants to local good causes that improve the quality of life in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

In its short but successful history the Foundation has distributed grants of nearly half a million pounds each year. It has already supported more than 120 small local charities.

The Cornish charity has four main visions behind its work:

  • Building a 拢2m endowment fund over the next three years to provide a permanent, long term, and sustainable funding stream for community based charities in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
  • Providing an efficient and effective mechanism for private donors to support community based projects which make match donor preferences and a measurable difference to local communities within Cornwall
  • Attracting and effectively managing large funding packages from a variety of sources, including statutory and private sector funds.
  • Developing new and untapped sources of Voluntary Sector Funding such as consolidation of dormant Trust funds.

A diverse range of organisations have been helped by the CCF. Here are just a few and comments from them:

CORNWALL DISABILITY FORUM

One of the most difficult places to access if you have a physical disability is the beach. A big shame as in Cornwall we have some of the best beaches in the UK on our doorstep. Cornwall Disability Forum and Cornwall Community Foundation have led the way in addressing this by purchasing three sand chairs.

COMMUNITY ASSISTED PROJECTS

Communities across Cornwall are benefiting from tidier beaches, housing estates and recreation grounds thanks to a range of schemes set up by a project to co-ordinate volunteers with the needs of local projects and individuals. The Community Assisted Projects Scheme links members of communities that want to put something back into their local area with individuals and projects in need of help.

GAZELLES GYMNASTICS CLUB

A 拢7,000 grant from the Local Network Fund is helping young gymnasts from Camborne and Redruth to train to a high standard using modern equipment.听 The club has a strong local membership who will benefit from training with new gymnastic equipment. The improvements to the club鈥檚 facilities will also enable the Gazelles to host gymnastic events and local competitions at their hall in Pool, near Redruth.

CHARLESTOWN ROWING CLUB

A 拢4,597 Local Network Fund Grant is helping young rowers in Charlestown to enjoy the sport of gig rowing thanks to the purchase of a new 15 ft skiff which is perfectly suited to teaching technique to newcomers of the sport. The new training boat will also be used by the club to participate in a young people鈥檚 community warden scheme to teach disadvantaged young people how to row in a crew.

TINTAGEL SKATE PARK

Young people from Tintagel and the surrounding area will soon have a safe place to hone their skills and become the potential champion skateboarders of the future after a project to develop a permanent skate park received its first stage of funding though the Cornwall Community Foundation.
