Complaint
A discussion about visits by religious groups to primary schools in Northern Ireland included an interview with a spokesman from an evangelical Christian group.聽 A listener complained the programme presenter was wrong to question aspects of its teaching by saying that the Bible does not mention dinosaurs.聽 The ECU considered whether the report met the standards of due accuracy set out in the Editorial Guidelines.
Outcome
The programme鈥檚 presenter was seeking to test and understand some of this group鈥檚 learning resources, including their apparent contradiction with generally accepted scientific teaching/theory on evolution.聽 The way the presenter explained this point was done in a duly accurate manner, and it was correct for him to state the term dinosaur does not appear in the Bible.
