Complaint
A viewer complained it was inaccurate and misleading to show footage of a Persian leopard and claim they were the first images ever taken of a female Persian leopard in Iraq. 聽The ECU considered whether the statement met the standards of due accuracy set out in the Editorial Guidelines.
Outcome
The ECU acknowledged the complainant had claimed to have captured images of the same female leopard some months before the footage used in this edition of Asia was filmed. 聽But it considered the substantive point viewers would have derived from the programme was that Persian leopards are rarely observed in this part of Iraq and it was extremely unusual to capture either males or females on films, facts not in dispute.
