Neil Morrissey

Neil Morrissey was born in Stoke-on-Trent in 1962.

He first sprang onto our screens in mid-1980s ITV drama Boon, playing genial-but-dim biker Rocky.Ìý In many ways it was the part that defined him – at least as far as casting directors were concerned – and his most successful roles have all been playing nice but dumb blokes.

Morrissey's breakthrough came with Men Behaving Badly, where he played the... ahem... not-so-bright but very friendly Tony, replacing Harry Enfield's Dermot as Gary's flatmate.

He brought real charm to the role, offsetting his character's "new lad" antics with a boyish innocence, especially in his pathetic attempts to woo lust object Deborah.

He has gone on to appear in many shows, though his biggest success has probably been as the voice behind Bob the Builder, even scoring a Christmas number one hit with single "Can We Fix It?"
