Episode Five. House band: Glenn Ponder and Lazarus
听
Even though Alan sacked his house band in the last programme, they were back again in show five pending an industrial tribunal.
Alan's first guest: Events Promoter Terry Norton
Terry Norton, cleared of garrotting a night-club owner in Leicester Square, was Alan's first guest. Terry had come on to say he was bringing back the Miss United Kingdom beauty contest. As a special treat the final heat of Miss Norwich was to take place live on the show. But before that...
Knowing Me Alan Partridge, Knowing You Another Alan Partridge
Two weeks earlier Alan received a letter from another Alan Partridge in Preston, Lancashire. He was invited onto the show. One week later he died. All the same the booking was honoured. The late Alan was brought on in his coffin and presented with a granite marble mix headstone with a duboseal covering - which protects against vandalism. The living relatives were then invited to judge the final of Miss Norwich.
A Partridge Over Britain
After the beauty contest came a more serious section of the show, a serious political debate chaired by Alan Partridge. West Chalfont, Buckinghamshires, was going to the polls for a bi-election. The candidates sat around Alan's table. They were: Charlotte Fraser (Labour), Ronald Biggs (Lib Dem), Adrian 'Full Steam Ahead' Finch (Conservative) and Lt. Col. Kojak Slaphead III of the Bald Brummies Against The Big Footed Conspiracy Party (he鈥檇 paid his deposit, that鈥檚 democracy for you).
Alan remained impartial throughout. He was Pontius Partridge.
Sadly the debate was derailed buy Martin Dwire aka Lt. Col. Kojak Slaphead III and his fellow head-slappers. The studio was invaded and the Tory Adrian Finch had some sort of breakdown.
