The Pine & Conifer Enthusiast Garden
Designed by Graham Bodle
Lawrence and Vera Walker, the founders of Walkers Nurseries 60 years ago, are the inspiration for this garden which aims to showcase their enthusiasm for pines and conifers.
The front of the garden is planted with pines and conifers to highlight the interesting shapes, shades and colourful tones of these interesting plants. Ornamental grasses are interwoven through the trees to add contrast and texture to the planting.
With the environment in mind, the garden has been created with reclaimed materials – from the greenhouse to the reclaimed stoneware. An insect house, bird feeder and nesting box are also used to attract wildlife. The nursery is represented by a small growing area at the rear complete with a greenhouse where plants are propagated and grown.
This garden has been awarded a Silver-Gilt Flora medal by the RHS.
