The Hartman 'A Joy Forever' Garden
Designed by Kate Gould
This garden is designed as a small compact space for a couple who like to use their garden at all times of the year.
The garden is contemporary in style featuring exposed concrete and industrial materials softened by planting in tones of green and white with subtle blue highlights. A neatly pleached hornbeam provides a shady canopy in summer and formal structure at all times of the year.
Shade tolerant plants and evergreens provide an all–year-round palette of planting surrounding an outdoor fireplace and sofa. The garden is also fitted with a permeable floor and rainwater harvesting facilities to reduce its environmental impact.
This garden has been awarded a Silver-Gilt Flora medal by the RHS.
