A huge thank you to all 成人快手 Radio 4 listeners who donated to our appeal. We are delighted to share that, with match funding, we have raised £38,600! Your donations will help more children and young people living with serious illness experience the fun of our Camp in the Cloud programme, rediscovering the magic of childhood and meeting others like them.

Over The Wall is a UK children’s charity that supports children and young people with serious illnesses, and their families. We provide residential activity camps to allow them to rediscover the mischief and magic of childhood. The COVID-19 pandemic meant that we were unable to run these camps for two years. In response, we’ve developed Camp in the Cloud, an innovative and inclusive virtual programme that children and young people can participate in at home. Completely free of charge, campers are sent a “Seriously Fun box” with everything they need to participate in the activities.

Hear from one of our families about their experience with Camp in the Cloud:

“We’ve done Camp in the Cloud as a family twice now–during lockdown and earlier this year. Both experiences were great fun! We love receiving the box with all the activity materials and the t-shirts. Getting that box delivered really brightened up our time during the pandemic. It really helped us feel part of a community, especially as we were isolating indefinitely at the time. Having the t-shirts the second time round reminded us of those happy memories from family camp, so putting the t-shirts on made us feel like we were at camp again. There was lots to do for all of us, so much for all ages and abilities. The grandparents were quite surprised when they popped in and found us covered in face paints. Even they got involved with the family quiz, so in the end they got to experience camp life too. It shows how inclusive the programme is and how it can bring the whole family together.”

With the money raised from our appeal, we will be able to provide over 700 families with Camp in the Cloud boxes, so that they can have this experience.
