Globally, there are still approximately 830 women dying every day from pregnancy and childbirth related causes, 99% of them are in low-resource settings and could have been prevented with the right health training.

Medical Aid Films is extremely grateful for the incredible generosity and support we received from Radio 4 listeners, raising a total of £40,630 for our appeal supporting life-changing training content for midwives and nurses in Somaliland.
Somaliland has one of the highest rates of maternal mortality in the world, with women facing a staggering one in 22 lifetime risk of maternal death. Medical Aid Films has been working in partnership with Somaliland Nurses and Midwives Association and the Ministry of Health.
A selection of 30 films from our library were identified as relevant for health worker training in Somaliland context. These films were translated into the local language, empowering frontline health workers, volunteers and communities with vital health knowledge, skills and resources to support women throughout their pregnancy and childbirth. Film is a very powerful tool for education and training as it helps to present complex information simply and clearly, keeping audiences engaged as well as overcoming barriers to learning created by low literacy. It is also a sustainable and scalable resource, continuing to have impact in communities for many years.
With the funds raised through the 成人快手 appeal, Medical Aid Films will continue to create more high-quality, contextually relevant films in local languages, empowering more frontline health workers with the right skills and knowledge to save lives in their communities.
