Make your own Aloo tikki potato dish
Have a go at making this super easy, extremely tasty, popular Indian street food dish.
- 2 large boiled potatoes (cooked and left to cool down)
- 1/4 tsp red chilli powder or cayenne pepper
- 1 pinch Garam Masala Powder or curry powder
- 1 pinch ground coriander
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 pinches black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp mint sauce
Method
1. Mash the (cooked and cooled) potatoes with a fork until smooth.
2. Add the spices and mix with the potato.
3. Using your hands mould the potato mixture into four patty shapes and leave to one side.
4. GRAB A GROWN UP and heat 5 tbsp of oil in a pan on medium heat.
5. Once hot, using a spatula place one patty in the oil and fry until golden, this usually takes around two minutes.
6. Once golden on the first side, carefully flip your patty and cook until golden. Repeat this process with your remaining patties.
7. Leave your patties to drain (and cool down slightly) on some kitchen roll.
8. Mix the ketchup and mint sauce together to create a delicious dipping sauce! YUM!
