Darwin as a rapper, by SINCRU

Fringe entertainment at the Darwin Festival!

There are some fascinating talks, lectures and exhibitions at the Darwin Festival - but if you fancy something completely different, check out the festival's 'fringe' events which include comedy, rap and break-dance!

The University of Cambridge hosts The Darwin Festival from 5th-10th July 2009 to mark 200 years since Charles Darwin's birth and 150 years since the publication of 'On the Origin of Species'.

While the main programme of events features talks, lectures and discussions, the festival's fringe programme will extend to the streets, community rooms, bars and cafes, with informal theatre, music, soap box talks, comedy and gigs!

There's something happening every day, and 成人快手 Cambridgeshire spoke to three of the acts taking part:

Baba Brinkman

Baba Brinkman

The Rap Guide to Evolution

Canadian actor and rap artist, Baba Brinkman brings his tongue-in-cheek humour to the Darwin Festival. Combining hilarious remixes of popular rap songs with clever lyrical storytelling, Baba paints intricate rhymes about anything from Natural Selection to Evolutionary Psychology in a clever way that will have the listener pumped and having an unforgettable, laugh-out-loud, comedy experience.

Darwin's Notebook

It's 200 years since Charles Darwin was born - but what would he make of a local hip-hip collective break-dancing and bodypoppin around some of the birds, barnacles and beetles he collected on his travels?

On Wednesday 8th July the Museum of Zoology in Cambridge will come to life as SIN CRU present 'Darwin's Notebook', a spectacular piece of dance-theatre, set to be more jaw-dropping than 'Night at the Museum'!

  • Wednesday 8th July, 7.30pm, Museum of Zoology, Downing Street (admission free - please make a donation on the door, limited entrance)
  • Thursday 9th July 7.30pm, The Junction, Clifton Way (tickets 拢8 / 拢5 concs)
Carole Jahme

Carole Jahme

Carole Jahme is Sexually Selected!

Carole will perform her one-woman comedy show using authentic evolutionary psychology to find an alpha male and an alpha female from the audience. A light, comic relief from the more formal side to Darwinian thought!

  • Friday 10th July, 8pm, The Junction, Clifton Way (tickets 拢10 / 拢8 concs)
  • Carole will also be taking to the streets of Cambridge throughout the week looking for alpha males and females!
