Our day with Patrick

10am

Our day began sifting through news items. We selected by debate, and a tough decision by our producer Ben, to follow up the following stories between a man being killed over football, sex clinics in schools and an excellent story, that caught all of our imaginations, about how doctors thought a boy was deaf until they found a cotton bud lodged in his ear!

10.30am

Everybody has started working on their job. We were all given jobs like the professionals would have. We had a producer, four reporters, four producers for the reporters, two presenters and four camera men or women.

Reporters went off to film their news clips and record their interviews about some leaflets on sex clinics. Reporters were asking whether pupils had read any of the advice leaflets.

Reporters, who are covering the cotton bud story, have been slowed down as we only have one camera at the moment. Extra camera to the rescue, now they can film an expert on cotton buds. The presenters are having a talk over the speech they are writing.

11.10am

The weather forecast was coming on nicely and it was nearly finished. The presenter for this is practicing her speech ready for the filming. The main presenters are asking each group of reporters about what they are doing, to give more information to our viewers.

The reporters for the sex clinic talks were interviewing some teachers about our schools safety.

12.30pm

We watched a few of the recordings by the sex education reporters. Rachel recorded over Mr Gartshore鈥檚 speech, by accident. Trudi, our weather lady, was practicing her weather report. The main presenters were recorded.

12.55pm

Trudi was recorded and did really well like the other reporters. Some other people edited their presentations.

1.30pm

We were starting to assemble all our presentations together, for the full news report.
