Curling up on a wet, cold day with a favourite author; being left with the warm memory of a book much enjoyed; the joy of falling in love with a new author; learning something new - and - creating your own minds-eye scenes. These are just some the feelings associated with a good read, and is what ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Cambridgeshire will be celebrating every month.

You can hear Cover to Cover on Monday 6th of July

Cover to Cover - Hot Picks for July

Here are our hot picks for July's Cover to Cover. They have been chosen by Anna Elmore from Waterstones in Peterborough

Ashes to Ashes - Marcus Berkman

From the book - In summer 2009, by far the most popular event in the cricketing calendar comes round again - the Ashes series between England and Australia. The anticipation will be intense, the hype absurd, the sense of expectation never remotely likely to be satisfied, for two good reasons. England won in 2005 by a whisker. We can't expect anything so good again, possibly for the rest of our lives. The second reason is even more brutally realistic. For the truth is that, over the past twenty years at least, Australia have usually won very easily. We begin with hope, we end in despair.

Love Letters - Katie Ffirde

With the bookshop where she works about to close, Laura Horsley, in a moment of uncharacteristic recklessness, finds herself agreeing to help organize a literary festival deep in the heart of the English countryside. But her initial excitement is rapidly followed by a mounting sense of panic when reality sinks in and she realizes just how much work is involved - especially when an innocent mistake leads the festival committee to mistakenly believe that Laura is a personal friend of the author at the top of their wish-list.

The Book of Fires - Jane Borodale

A stunning historical novel, 'The Book of Fires' is the unforgettable story of Agnes Trussel -- and love, fireworks and redemption. Brought up in rural Sussex, seventeen-year-old Agnes Trussel is carrying an unwanted child. Taking advantage of the death of her elderly neighbour, Agnes steals her savings and runs away to London. On her way she encounters the intriguing Lettice Talbot who promises that she will help Agnes upon their arrival.

Dead Tomorrow - Peter James

A teenager's body is recovered from the sea off the cost of Sussex, with vital organs excised. Two equally grim subsequent discoveries follow. At the same time, another teenager, Caitlinn Beckett, lies in a Brighton hospital; she will die if she is not the recipient of a liver transplant. The National Health Service cannot help, and Lynn, Catlinn's mothers, turns in desperation to clandestine sources.

Just five ingredients - Ainsley Harriott

Using easily accessible ingredients, Ainsley's recipes include fresh salads, succulent fish and meat dishes, healthy pastas, vegetarian delights, sizzling barbecue ideas and tempting desserts; all using just five key ingredients, plus salt, pepper and oil. There'll be no more looking at an ingredients list and groaning at all the shopping and chopping you'll have to do. Ainsley has created an essential cookbook that's sure to be the only extra ingredient you'll need in your kitchen.

You can volunteer to review one of our books by emailing us.
