Tonight's Hottest Record comes from a band who have ridden a decent wave of hype to shore and landed on both feet. Palma Violets frirt song official 'Best Of Friends' lives up to the high expectation set by industry chat. A great beginning in earnest.
One of my favourite songwriters, Conor J. O'Brien, returns with a new Villagers record tonight and there are changes afoot. For a start, this new album has been recorded in collaboration with his touring band and there is a distinctly rhythmic, and electronic feel to the first single The Waves. The rest however is the usual quality we've come to expect from a man who serves purely to please the song.
Hey it's Huw in for Zane. I'm so excited to bring you this, the return of Everything Everything. Fuller sounding, more mature but still very much the band that made Man Alive, Cough Cough is an irresistible funky wholesome beast of a record. Press play!
It's a fonky fonky sound tonight courtesy of KOAN Sound. 80 Fitness is the lighter side of bass culture but don't get it twisted, these guys are serious. OWLSA endorsed and destined for a bright future.
Understandable given the prolonged break Kings Of Leon have been on that music would be made in some capacity by some members of the band. First out the gates is Jared with his relaxed basement project Smoke & Jackal. The other half of this equation is Nick form Mona. It sounds like it reads, two buddies doing it for fun.
The third new piece of music from the forthcoming Sub Focus album, as the title suggests, is a Tidal Wave of a record. Crammed with melody, and propelled by the masterful production that Sub Focus has... er... mastered make is a late summer anthem for 2012.
With the Olympics well and truly over, Muse can focus on the all important task of releasing and touring The 2nd Law. This began for us today with a full scale interview and a play of the new single 'Madness' which was tonight's Hottest Record. Madness is essentially a simply crafted pop song that's been sonically revolutionised and now sounds like Muse pushing boundaries. Like they do.
When Swedish House Mafia said that they were going to break up it was met with total disbelief and I was amongst those who felt that way. Here's a bittersweet dance around track before it all comes to its natural conclusion.
One of the most talented singer/songwriters of our time. LISTEN
Set for release on September 10th through the band's own label Venn Records, Gallows third and self-titled album proves that their reputation as the UK's most notorious and exciting punk band will not be changing any time soon.
A whole world of Green Day fans tuned in tonight for their return with Kill The DJ and a promise of surprises for their UK fans in the short future.... And with 3 new albums coming out in quick succession ... Green Day are clearly ready to break rules and work hard.
Huw in for Zane. Oh hello. Tonight's Hottest comes from one of the most special bands we have. the xx release their second album Coexist in September, and it's a work of great beauty. This new track from it is sublime and has all the trademarks of a band in total control of what they're doing. Every part of the new album I hear I want to listen to the whole thing. A little while until then, but enjoy this.....
Hello it's Huw in for Zane. So tonight's Hottest Record in the World is massive, and it's the new one from Mumford & Sons. I Will Wait sounds excellent, and it's so good to have them back It's been three years since Sigh No More came out, and new album Babel is ready to drop in September. Get excited! Press play!
Hey, it's Huw in for Zane. Tonight's Hottest Record is the eagerly anticipated return of the magnificent Grizzly Bear. Daniel from the band was on the show talking about the new album 'Shields', and 'Yet Again' is the name of this beautiful new song. Welcome back GB.
Hey, it's Huw in for Zane. One of the finest bands to emerge in the last few years are most definitely Tribes. Debut album 'Baby' was a breath of fresh air with strong song writing and a genuine passion for rock and roll. Working on their second album in L.A, Tribes bring us 'Coming Of Age' - a live favourite and tonight's Hottest Record.
We Are The Ocean. Smashed It.
