The British governmentÌýis to high earners. But will the move bring out the Ìýor leave them at a loss?

The ,

'Why should people become clients of the state as soon as they have a child? It could be argued that such a universal benefit is an inherently socialist measure; a benign disguise for a sinister project to nationalise family life.'

that cutting universal child benefit might be a price worth paying:

'Ending universal entitlement to Child Benefit will help to pay for widespread changes lower down the income scale which could have far-reaching positive effects on the economy and society as a whole...Free money in the form of government hand-outs of every description will always be popular - until voters realise how much they cost.'

But many of you have been getting in touch with the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ to tell us how unhappy to you are.

Pete in Littleborough emails

'This is idiotic policy which is vastly unfair...This benefit has to be tested on a per family basis and not an individual one to make it fair. I work and my wife stays at home to look after our 3 children. I earn over the £44,000 limit but nowhere near the circa £88,000 that two working parents could earn without losing it.'

And Jackie in London writes'

'What is fair about working really hard for your money, grafting at work, university and making an effort to have the 'better life' that George Osborne suggests, when the government does very little to applaud or support it. I feel like my generation is being slammed.'

So should the government pay you to bring up your children? What support is offered to you and your family wherever you are in the world?
