Stories from the oil spill
Hi there WHYS listeners! It's Robyn here from the World Update programme. I wanted to say a quick hello and introduce myself before hopping on a plane bound for New Orleans first thing on Tuesday morning.
I'm headed to Louisiana for the next two weeks to cover the human stories from the in the Gulf of Mexico. I'll be speaking to shrimpers and crabbers who fear their livelihoods may be destroyed by the spill.
I'll meet those working hard to save the marine and wetland wildlife. And, I'll be getting a sense of how residents of New Orleans are coping with yet another disaster in their backyard.
I'll be embedded with the local National Public Radio station, . The nice team there has kindly offered to share their huge wealth of local knowledge. I'll blog daily (right here!) about the people I meet and the stories I hear.
Even though it's been over a month since the Deepwater Horizon rig, leased by BP exploded, I hear that anger amongst locals in Louisiana is growing. So, off I go to investigate and report back to you.
