I've read three studies in the newspapers already that highlight silly season pretty well - , , and my personal favourite about a . I'm not sure why either.....

So, here's a more serious look at what could make the cut today...

Bangladesh
Rioting has taken place at Universtiy campuses in Bangladesh, Witnesses that the violence "has shut shops, forced public transport off the streets and caused panic among residents in affected areas. Hopefully we can hear some voices from there.

Gay in Uganda
It's a subject we've discussed a few times on WHYS, homosexuality in Africa. Well, yesterday hundreds of Ugandans took part an anti-gay rally in the capital to demand the government uphold a ban on gay sex. This was in response to a news conference held last week by Sexual Minorities Uganda at which gay, lesbian, and transgender Ugandans asked the government to let them live in peace. Our sister programme Africa Have Your Say , let us know if you'd like to hear it on today's World Have Your Say.

Iraqi government
The US Ambassador to Baghdad has said the . President Bush echoed the sentiment, saying "there's a certain level of frustration with the [Iraqi] leadership". What more could be done by the leaders of a war torn country? The criticism comes during the trial of Chemical Ali, which, , has provoked a fresh debate among Iraqis about this means of delivering justice.

Refugees
Israel is struggling to stem the flow of Africans entering the country via its southern border with Egypt. An official has said in future, Israel will turn away all illegal entrants from Sudan's war-torn region of Darfur. spells out the situation, one for discussion on the show today?
