Friday - Allah, Zimbabwe, Let-downs

James Harrod | 09:30 UK time, Friday, 17 August 2007

Hello. I was down at the South Bank yesterday, helping out on the outside broadcast. We're out every day this week - you can listen again to last night's show here.

Got any suggestions for where we should be for tonight's show, and what stories we should be looking at? Call us +44 207 557 0635 and join our morning meeting, or send us a message - details are on the right ---------->>>.

A Catholic bishop in the Netherlands has suggested , instead of God, as a means of relieving tensions with Muslims. Tiny Muskens says people shouldn't be worried what "God" is called, as long as people believe in a higher being. So, does God's name matter? It's certainly , shall we look into it today?...

...A southern African summit's taking place in Zambia at the moment. Much of the focus is on . President Robert Mugabe received a hero's welcome yesterday as he turned up in Lusaka. He enjoyed thunderous applause - compared to light hand-clapping for other heads of state. Mugabe still has much support from many neighbouring countries, and some have been accused of turning a blind eye to the problems in Zimbabwe. Will this summit actually achieve anything? Should we assemble our very own WHYS delegation in London tonight, featuring Africans from some of the countries represented in Lusaka? Would they like to see their governments intervene in Zimbabwe?

...We could head to one of the relief agencies that is preparing to send aid to the . Perhaps some callers from the country itself to reflect the nation's feeling at this tragic time.

...Earlier this week, the bombing of near Mosul in northern Iraq, was one of the worst attacks in since the US-led invasion of 2003. As many as 400 people died. Is it worth going to an Iraqi café in London today and talking to the regulars to get their assessment of the situation in Iraq today? We could also ask them about the idea I had earlier this week, about a Muslim caliphate.

The people of the Maldives will in a referendum to decide how they will be governed in future. On offer is a choice between a Presidential system of Government, and a Parliamentary one. It's all part of the island nation's reform process, but many believe it may also turn out to be an acid test for Asia's longest-serving ruler, President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. He is accused of clamping down on dissidents and pro-democracy
activists. Is it worth getting a few voters from south-Asia's most expensive holiday destination to talk to us?

You're bound to have a view on this. Ever been to a tourist hot-spot and felt a bit...well...er...let down by it all? A here in the UK which rates the Eiffel Tower in Paris as the most under-whelming sight in the whole of the world. Also in the top 5 - Times Square in New York and Las Ramblas in Barcelona. In the UK, Stonehenge is the "biggest let down". What's the biggest let-down you've ever visited? Want to stand up for your city or favourite attraction?
