Tony Blair: Special envoy to the Middle East?

Ros Atkins Ros Atkins | 15:25 UK time, Tuesday, 26 June 2007

It's time-up for Tony tomorrow. Prime Minister Blair will make the short drive from Downing Street to Buckingham Palace to tell the Queen he's standing down. Not long after she'll get another visit, this time from Gordon Brown saying he's taking over. No doubt a walk with the corgis will follow that.

You might think that Mr Blair would fancy some time with his feet up, but as he goes about his last full day in charge, he's already being lined up for another major job.

The Quartet of Middle East mediators (that's the EU, Russia, the US and the UN) is meeting today and . Would you give him the job?

ABORIGINAL ANGER ESCALATES
If you were listening on Friday you'd have heard our discussion about plans by the Australian government to ban alcohol and pornography in some Aboriginal communities as part of its efforts to curb child sex abuse. (You can see comments and listen to the programme on the blog.)

We heard several examples of the angry reaction to the new measures, and that anger is not dissipating. Aboriginal elders are now (also known as Ayers Rock) in protest.

We'll pick up on the story again, and if you've ever thought about visiting Australia, do you support the stance the elders are taking?

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
I'll have news of WHYS' next two trips in tomorrow's Daily Email.

Speak to you later.
Cheers,
Ros
