The British bomb plotters

Fiona Crack | 09:54 UK time, Tuesday, 1 May 2007

The international press is full of reports on the longest and most expensive terror trial - that of .

In the Times is reveals that the for the prosecution was Pakistani-American Mohammed Babar, who was arrested in the United States and confessed to helping the men acquire materials for the bombs. His statements were vital. Do we need more Muslim supergrasses to combat extremism?

We'll have to keep an eye on the breaking news of three . Messages left at two of the sites in Bengali and English said the attacks were carried out by "the new al-Qaeda".

There seems to be a bit of a theme between politicians and the mistresses today - as some of the politic elite in Washington look nervous as Deborah Jane Palfrey threatens to reveal dozens of high profile names in her telephone book which she claims are , officials in China face dismissal if they have a mistress in a crack-down on abuse in power.

And last night two listeners vote last night to talk about and whether he should be sacked for promoting his partner.

Reed from Portland, Oregon says:

It seems that Wolfowitz totally blew it by giving his girlfriend such a nice raise and while him and his lawyer are trying to point the finger at the paper trail the documents don't seem to really be in their favour. Wolfowitz's order to the HR department at the World Bank seems pretty decisively against him. I get the sense that the board at the bank is none too impressed by Wolfowitz "lawyering up" as a means of dealing with his situation as well.

It simply smacks of the arrogance of the "bushies" that Wolfowitz would still receive support from the administration and maintain himself that he should keep his job. Its quite simply a joke for him to say that he could still run a campaign against corruption given this situation, not too mention, much of the larger history of questionable things he's done or been a part of in the government over the years.

And would you pay live? And can prices like this ever be justified?

And finally, a leading headmistress in the UK has gone against the tide of opinion and defended keeping that way. She says that the trend for educating boys and girls together has been accepted uncritically for far too long and needs to be questioned. So does it? Did you go to a single sex school and did the separating of the sexes as you grew up, help or hinder you in adulthood? Would you send your children to a single-sex school if it was an option?
