Ban HIV positive people? Excuse obesity? Fire Wolfowitz?

| 17:00 UK time, Friday, 13 April 2007

Peter here, with news of today's World Have Your Say, and it's a nice mix to end the week; discrimination, diplomacy, fat and a shock jock.

The Australian Prime Minister, either as migrants or refugees.

If you live in a country that already has this policy do you feel safer? And if so, why? The US is one of the toughest -- refusing entry to any foreign national with HIV. Tell us what you think? Is this the kind of policy which would have been acceptable, say, 15 years ago, but has the world now moved on? Have our attitudes towards people with HIV changed, and changed for the better? If you're HIV positive what do you think ? Do you have direct experience of this kind of official reaction to your HIV status ? If you're HIV negative does it make any difference to you? Some of our research here in the WHYS office seems to be saying that this will now send out the wrong signal: people will now start thinking that Australia is free of HIV and start behaving stupidly, unsafe sex, no condoms, that kind of thing.

Onto diplomacy -- and He's been smiling a lot, sounding conciliatory, and making the most of the photo-ops, but will that translate into changing popular attitudes between the two peoples ? Tensions have been high because China accuses Japan of failing to repent for historical wrongs, while Japan accuses China of dwelling on the past. How easy will it be for people on both sides to put the past behind them? We'll try and find out and we're also interested to know what you think or what advice you might have for our panel of regular folk from both sides.

And we're also : if you're a bigger person, or if you have a bigger person in your life this one's for you. Scientists say they have identified the clearest genetic link yet to people being over weight. They found people with two copies of a "fat" version of a gene had a 70% higher risk of obesity. So today we're asking: Can you now say "well it's my genes, pass me another cheese burger". And from a health point of view shouldn't you carry on fighting the good fight anyway ? Does this help to remove the stigma surrounding fat people -- does your society (wherever you are in the world) judge fat people, and find them lacking? Let us know what you feel about this one.

We're also going to revisit a big talking point from earlier in the week. Remember ? He was the shock jock who stood down for two weeks after his comments about a female black basketball team in the US. Well, . Out the door, gone. We'll be giving one of our callers a chance to come back on that story -- she had some pretty definite opionions on Mr Imus.

And do please drop us a very brief message about Paul Wolfowitz. over the pay deal for his girlfriend? Yes or No - if you have the time, a brief email or text would be great, and we'll keep the score on air.

You can text us on 44 77 86 20 60 80

Or phone us on 44 20 70 83 72 72

Talk to you later, Peter :-)
