Friday night LIVE

Richard Bowen | 17:49 UK time, Friday, 16 February 2007

We're now off air, but fear not, read below for all the comments from today's show.

As I wrote earlier, we wanted to know if you thought too much money is being spent on the global fight against Aids? ... Post your comment now. We also spoke to youngsters from across the world who've experienced gun crime and asked them what can be done about this growing global culture.

You can read emails and text messages here, and of course post your own comments as well.

AIDS SPENDING

Tonights first text is from Winnie, thika, Kenya.

A friend bares the monthly cost of her diabetes medication. she squirms when i tel her if it was aids, even bush would help her stay well.

MATHEW, Tanzania says

Being new and with no cure HIV/AIDS needs more attention and budget as its impact cannot be estimated until the cure is obtained.

Johnson, NIGERIA

Surely funding for HIV/AIDS should outnumber that of other diseases reason being that the means of spread of HIV/AIDS is faster and more widespread.

Jago, The Gambia

I strongly agreed with David,HIV/AIDS attracts better attention and preveledges.

Thorkil, Tanzania

Just spend the money on condoms and openminded promotion.

Anon

It's crazy to think about stopping funding for the fight against HIV before a cure is found. There are millions on death row

Mario in Prague

Although a lot of money is channelled for aids, i think if we consider the amount of cases and the high risk of spreading the disease, the money is average. What about the millions being used for avian bird flu which has a handfull of cases per year. Couldn't the money be channelled from elsewere other than AIDS.

Matimo David India

Too much money is pumped into Hiv research.. Its not curable. Fight other Diseases.

Lubna,Iraq.

I think all gang members should come and learn from iraqi experiment, not all iraqi gangs are sectarian, some are professional criminals.

Anon

Research on A I D S should continue whole families are being wiped out here

Calvin,Lusaka,Zambia

Funding to HIV is too excessive but results are very disappointing. Every one in this field is out to make some bucks.

Nicholas:

In nigeria violence among teens is so rampant that thousand of people get killed in the tertiary institutions and on the streets yearly.

SEGUN from port harcourt, Nigeria

First, check the family. then the schools and finally the law. We hav all failed. God help our youths.

Mithril:
Isn't it ironic that most of the passive solutions offered to solving the teen violence issue are similar or the same as the passive solutions offered to combat terrorism.

Mike:
Violence is ancient, but lethality is about GUNS.

Shehu in Nigeria
All around the world, youth violence is caused by youth culture driven by hip hop, hollywood films, availability of drugs, guns and the need 4 'respect'
