Old photo shows men at work

A photo sent in by contributor Steven Cockrill shows a group of men at work, including his grandfather with a scale rule in his pocket on the right of the picture. He thinks this was taken on the cooling tower at the Shotton Steelworks site. Can anyone help with further information?

Another photo shows what looks like the inside of the tower and gives some idea of its scale and the conditions faced by workers in an era when health and safety in the workplace was probably less of a priority than it is today!

Just wanted to share a great photo from another time. It was taken in 1950 and shows miners playing instruments and singing Christmas carols underground at the former , Rhostyllen, Wrexham.
