I heard an interview with Wrexham landlord Alan Hayes on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Wales this morning telling listeners why it's hard for local pubs to survive.

Alan, who's chairman of Wrexham Licensed Victuallers Association and landlord of the Buck Inn at Bangor on Dee, was responding to the story about vying for customers in a price war with supermarkets.

What with scenes like the one [top] from Wrexham photographer becoming commonplace in our communities and realising Wrexham's strong and historic connections with the brewing industry, I thought it timely to pull together some archive material and here it is, .
