Before I get to last night's ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Wales political programme Dragon's Eye [click to watch again], today it has emerged that US police group are the latest to back Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom's call to legalise drugs.

The interviews former New Jersey undercover narcotics officer Jack Cole who says of legalisation:

“It’s the only way out of this mess. We spent over a trillion dollars in 37 years in the US on the war on drugs. We are calling for an end to prohibition just like the end to alcohol prohibition in 1933, which put Al Capone and his buddies out of business."

Meanwhile, Welsh political bloggers and former AM have been speaking out after watching last night's Dragon's Eye. Ordovicius accuses some politicians of ducking the debate, while Glyn reckons the police authority should not be adding weight to the "maverick" Mr Brunstrom.

They were blogging after Dragon's Eye interviewed a gaggle of politicans who, in the main, oppose the chief's stance - saying they're representing their constituents who don't agree that drugs should be legalised. They also reckon he is something of a maverick, with some suggesting he should resign.

Has the love-or-loathe-him Chief Constable over stepped the mark this time or is his call to legalise drugs within his remit? Add your views...
