I see the Wrexham and Flintshire Walking the Way to Health project has been awarded more than £400,000 in Lottery cash to get people out of their chairs and out and about, according to .
Meanwhile, Denbighshire Council are going their own way with a series of being launched next week designed to help you do 30 minutes of exercise.
I guess the idea behind this is that a fitter, healthier nation puts less pressure on the health services etc. What do you reckon?
There's a real heated debate going on in our Messageboard about the value of the Welsh language. Now I know it's a tit-for-tat kind of spat that comes up now and again; dissenters say 'you don't need to learn the language' etc, etc and the pros fight back.
But, what I don't understand is why those who don't appreciate the importance of the language feel so strongly to the point of being vehemently opposed. Why can't they just say chwarae teg [fair play] and let people that want to siarad [speak] / dysgu Cymraeg [learn Welsh] get on with it? Can you explain?
As if to reinforce yesterday's blog about aspirations for the development of the Racecourse Stadium, I see our friends in - courtesy of - are all of a buzz at the prospect of coming to Wrexham with their national team taking on Wales at the '' in May.
It's a great opportunity for us to see our players like Giggs and Bellamy in the flesh - and, as it's a friendly, at a fraction of the price you'd normally pay.
Wrexham fans must be experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions at the moment what with the team winning only a few points from the last nine games - and yet everyone else involved in the club seems to be planning for bigger and better things.
Off the pitch, reports on North Wales Assembly Members trying to make the Racecourse Stadium the 'Millennium Stadium of the north'. On top of that there are the plans for the redevelopment of the ground by the new owners.

The idea to build a retail and housing park at Spon Green - between Buckley and Padeswood - is back on the agenda, report our local newspapers this week, including today's .
This comes after another contentious story this week with Flintshire Council looking to site a temporary travellers' camp at Globe Way. And now councillors want to hear what you think, says Cllr Mike Peers who is asking for feedback in our Buckley mini site.
Today's reports that sickness levels among Flintshire Council staff have shot by 30 per cent and this has cost the authority and council taxpayers £2.3m this finanical year alone.

Well, after what must seem like an eternity for campaigners, work started this week to transform the former Scala Cinem into a £3.5m arts centre, according to .
There were times along the way when people fighting to safeguard the building must have thought their campaign was lost. Their next fight will be to make the centre a success, bring in the punters and show that such a community facility is needed.

Once again, a flurry of snow causes chaos across the land, with schools closed and transport affected. Why is it that weather conditions which other countries take in their stride seem to cause such problems for us? Personally, I found driving home last night much easier due to the absence of traffic on the road - a pleasant change given the recent congestion in Wrexham. However, never fear, it looks like milder weather is on the way, bringing the current cold snap to an end this weekend. has the latest on the situation and take a look at some of the great photos you've been sending in.

I never thought I'd say it but a man in a tight fitting aerobics outfit has become something of a hero of mine. If you're a parent of young kids you probably already know about Sportacus, the good guy in so-called on the bbc.co.uk/cbeebies children's TV channel.
Well, Magnús Scheving, the man who plays the character - and creator of the show - is coming to Wrexham on Thursday to give a speech - because he's become something of an authority when it comes to promoting good health for kids.

Time, it seems, is running out for smokers with more bans due in soon to restrict the places where they can light up.
My father hasn't been back to the cinema since they introduced a ban on smoking. Come to think of it, he hasn't flown on a plane since they banned smoking too. Will the ban on smoking in pubs and other places stop you from visiting them?

You've heard about road rage. Well, I think I'm developing a new syndrome - rubbish or recycling rage. I get it every week when people put out their rubbish for the bin collection. So much of what I see blowing in the wind up and down the street can actually be recycled.
The thing is, there is no telling now when the green mist can descend. It happened again this morning - this time whilst I was listening to the radio, albeit on my petrol-driven journey into work.

There seems to be some disquiet between parents and teachers at Denbigh High, with the local newspaper, the trying to make sense of it all. Take a look for yourself.
What makes the story all the more intriguing is, around the same time, I notice a press release has been issued by saying things are going well at the school following a visit by councillors to see for themselves.
