Problems in some communities are being caused by a minority of anti social people. But what can you do - or what can be done by the authorities - to make the situation better if they aren't prepared to do their bit to restore the peace?

So-called Friend has been in touch to name the people he or she believes are causing the problem on one estate, in this case Maes Gwyn in Flint. We can't publish the names for we've no idea whether Friend is right or wrong and what Friend deems as a 'problem' being caused by the neighbours might not be considered an issue by others.

So what steps - if any - can you advise Friend to take to help resolve the situation and do you think the authorities have enough powers to deal with problem people?

In Flintshire, the council has set up a new mediation service between people who believe they have a problem caused by young people aged up to 25. [Previous blog - Don't moan - sort it out]

In Wrexham, the local council has been using legal powers to evict problem tenants from council properties and then there are the community wardens who patrol the streets supposedly to make them feel safer.

Are we doing enough to help people like Friend who says it's time to stand up to the troublemakers?
