All this week Clare Balding is preparing us for the world's greatest steeplechase, The Grand National.

Running since 1839, Clare has been exploring the history ofÌýthe 'National' - it has produced sensational stories and characters such as three times winner Red Rum. The mighty Aintree fences provide a huge amount of drama for spectators. While for the runners and riders just finishing the course is a major achievement.
For enthusiasts, this Saturday's event is the highlight of the racing calendar. Many people spend a huge amount of time studying form. But for others the umpredicatability of The Grand National means it's a one off opportunity to have a little flutter.
So we're asking you, how do you pick your Grand National winner?
Is it as random as the choosing your favourite jersey colour or the horse's name?
Or are you a racing enthusiast who studies the horse's weight, stamina, age and experience before placing your bet?

Michael Mosley has been looking at the science behind food and drink and today it was the turn of tea and coffee. Watch all the films here.
Us Brits love a good cuppa and whether your tipple is tea or coffee, many of us follow certain rules to make sure we get it just right.
One Show Deputy Editor Lynne will only drink tea if it's out of a cup which is white inside - she reckons it makes it taste better!
Whereas Assistant Producer Vicki insists on a cafetiere and hot skinny milk on the side- no instant coffee for her!
So how do you drink yours?
Is a pot important? Do you add the milk before or after? Will you use a mug or will only a cup and saucer do?
Can you taste the difference between instant and perculated? Does your coffee have to be a skinny soya decaf cappuccino with an extra shot from only fairtrade beans?

George McGavin joined a group of children and scientists completing a survey about the common earthworm, an extremely important creature but one that surprisingly we know very little about.

Scientists want to build up our understanding of the soil types they live in and where the different types live across the country.

The Open Air Laboratories (OPAL) has launched a soil and earthworm survey and they're asking for your help. All you have to do to take part is test your local soil and identify your local earthworms.

To celebrate British Pie Week, Hardeep Singh Kohli took to the streets with a number of different pies for the public to sample.
So in the Friday spirit of 'Cauliflower V broccoli - where do you stand?' we're asking: Have the traditional British pie fillings been surpassed by exotic concoctions like spinach and feta and chicken tikka? Will the great British pie survive our modern concern with healthier eating?

Consumer reporter Lucy Siegle points out that there are alternatives to air travel. It's possible to travel to Rome by train, for example.
Train and ferry can take you from the UK to Cyprus, although expect it to take at least five days. By regular cargo-ship, the voyage from Tilbury (UK) to either Sydney or Melbourne (Australia) or Auckland (New Zealand) takes 32 to 42 days.
