New season, new look

Jim Irving | 09:51 UK time, Thursday, 2 August 2007

It seems like no time at of the 2006/07 Premier League season... and already the wait is nearly over. And with the new campaign comes a new look for and Match of the Day 2.

We've made various changes, some subtle, some more obvious than others. The first change you’ll probably notice is a new set of titles for both programmes. Gone are the badges emerging from stadiums across the country - the new titles include some of the Premier League’s biggest names.

The new MOTD set

We’ll be able to reveal more about the new titles, as well as show you some exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, a little later in the week.

As well as new titles we also have a new set and new programme logos. The new set is a first for . Instead of two medium size sets, one for Match of the Day and one for Match of the Day 2, we now have a single set for all of ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sport’s output.

As you can see from the pictures, it’s a fantastic space. The set is made up of backlight perspex panels that can be lit up in any colour. Wrapping around the back of the set is a huge video wall that we can project any image we design on to, giving each of the programmes a unique look.

The quality of the images from the seven projectors and High Definition server are amazing and will bring the set to life.

Incorporated into the new set are new programme logos, which we've updated to give them a more contemporary and three-dimensional feel. The logos will also have a much greater prominence throughout the programmes.

The plan is to use them as devices to introduce match edits on the Saturday night programme and they’ll also feature in highlights of the goals from the Saturday games on the Sunday programme.

I hope you’ll like the improvements we’ve made. I’m sure you’ll want to give us plenty of feedback!
