I'm the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's media correspondent and this is my brief selection of what's going on.

The says that the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Office abandoned plans for an independent inquiry into the News of the World phone-hacking scandal after a senior official warned that the Metropolitan Police would "deeply resent" any interference in their investigation.
