Should that not be "The (ahem) Glass Box for Thursday". Paddy had the very valid excuse that no-one had given him the password. As you say, craziness is no excuse at all.

The drawback of the late-appearing glass box is that my brain has corrupted its memory files of yesterday to such an extent that I haven't a clue what was on the programme. I did hear about half of it though, & I remember thinking it was good. I also thought "I should hurry & write in the glass box before I forget".
Oh dear. Too late.
I enjoyed the programme though, honest.
I listened with incredulity to the lawyer representing the 7/7 victims when he dismissed the work generated by a public inquiry. I am involved in "assisting" one of the four major inquiries in Northern Ireland. The PSNI has had to establish a large special unit to provide information to these inquiries as has the Northern Ireland Prison Service.
I am a retired civil servant and a minor player but I have already clocked up over seventy hours preparing for and giving statements and have yet to give evidence.
The truly scary thing is that I honestly thought I'd done it. It's a sign of the advancing years is it not? If you'd said to me last night: "did you do the Glass Box" I'd have said "yes".
Could someone remind me to do the programme?

Do tonight's programme, and you can have tomorrow off.
I didn't hear yesterday's programme as I'm finding all the news just too depressing at the moment.
Maybe I should send another cheery song lyric with the newsletter today?We did comment in the real Glass Box last night that the content was almost all depressing...

You know what, I'm getting really hacked off with all the militant unions striking over pay increases.
I work in the private sector in IT and when times were hard from 2001 to 2005 I got no pay rise at all - thats 0%.
But I could see that the company needed to tighten its belt, others around us were laying off staff, so I considered myself lucky.
No-one should be automatically in-line for a pay-rise that is above inflation, and public sector workers have a duty to help the government achieve inflation targets. It should be little hardship given they are safe in the knowledge that they will retire on nice fat final salary pensions.
They say a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, but I know which I would prefer when it comes to my pension and it just aint gonna happen.
Real terms increases in pay, should only be awarded to people who go the extra mile in their jobs, achieve beyond what is expected of them. I'd like to see unions banned from striking over pay.
You've a right to support colleagues who are treated unfairly, but if economics dictate that there's nothing extra for you at review time then try harder next year....
It's probably for the best that the glasxbox was launched late - the programme is now just a vague blur of abuse, shootings, terrorism, life threatening illness, refugees and lawyers. Thanks for all the comments and I am looking forward to hearing tonight's cheery programme with possible song lyrics. Interesting that the Today programme broadcast the poem by Rhys Jones's father.
