The little black cat
"Froggers have been contacting me constantly since Tuesday, on the Beach and by email, while I've been trying to save a small feral cat apparently poisoned. Encouraging, suggesting, advising, sending good wishes.... they've all been wonderful, and I would like it placed on record that I could not have got through this horrible week without their support. 'Blackie' is not yet out of the woods. He's still having trouble eating, and is very weak. But I think now he will make it, as long as nothing else goes wrong. He's drinking milk and trying to eat some tinned catfood ... which he's dared to steal from our Daisy's dish just inside the kitchen door!
Caring and supporting; it's what we do.

Fifi - thats great to hear!! Only just got back on the blog and was great to see that message (and lovely pics!!) Know its going to be a long slog for him/you but sure the worst is past. Thanks for the update....and hey, like you say, its what we do - another group hug??! xx
I'm a bit puzzled - the pics keep telling me they're of Daisy?
But, best wishes to Blackie anyway. We're just a bunch of softies here, and glad to support Fifi and Blackie, who seems to be recovering well. :o))
Golly, I feel a bit overwhelmed now. Thanks for putting this up for me Eddie!
The first picture shown here is actually Daisy, the incumbent cat. She generously oversees the redistribution of her own leftover food to Blackie most days, and yesterday turned a blind eye twice while he crept into the kitchen in search of wet food.
Please everyone, keep sending your positive thoughts and any advice you can think of.
PM: best bloomin' blog in the world!
:ox
Feef, that's great news! Here's hoping Blackie gets back to full strength soon :-)
And Eddie, I bet you never thought when you set up the blog that it would one day be used to tell the nation about the health of a little black cat!
Thumbs-up to Daisy too, for being a sharing cat!
So glad that Blackie is now recovering from possible poisoning. Can I just warn about the dangers of slug pellets as my father-in-law's cat died horribly after cleaning his fur of slug pellets accidentally hosed onto him by a neighbour. I have never used slug pellets since in spite of reassurances by the manufacturers as to their safety - and I do wonder about never seeing thrushes now.
ah they are so cute! Am really glad to hear he is on the mend but credit where credit is due Fifi - I know many have helped but at the end of the day YOU are the one who has perservered and cared for him so well done to you for being such a wonderful "mum"

Lovely!
A, x.
I'm not sure why the pics all seem to have 'Daisy' on the tag. Perhaps it was quicker for a ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ teck-head to type than 'Blackie' ... or more politically correct!
Daisy is not complaining, anyway. In fact, she is curled up in her favourite seat behind my office chair, gently snoring...
Credit is also due to my SO, who is every bit as dotty about animals as I am. If we can't save Blackie in the end, it'll not be for want of trying by all three of us!
... now I'm just off to check on him again. No sign yet today, but he does often seem to sleep in in the mornings.

Good on yer, Fifi, and thanks to Eddie for showing the photos.
Probably a feral cat no more :-) If Daisy has let him/her in to the food bowl then you Blackie may have a new human. Its well known that cats keep humans as pets.
My black cat (bjerrum) Now 16 was practically left on the doorstep by its feral mother. Must have know what a mug I was!
No Mrs Slocombe jokes please :-o
Ohhhhh...
well done, Feefs and Mr Feefs. And Daisy.
I'm a terrible softie for cats.
Best wishes and lots of stroking and chin-tickles to you all
It's just struck me that there are probably a half dozen other households in Fifiland who have been caring for Blackie and are now wondering what the heck 'their' little cat is doing on the PM Blog .....
Our cats (when we had cats) each had several trained households that they visited on a daily basis, checking out who had the better nibbles for them.
Cats: Nature's spongers.
Big Sis -
I wish my cat had several households....she hates going outside, I'm really beginning to wonder if she's agrophobic (sp - sorry)!
I had one like that, witchi.
