Worrying revelation

Nick Robinson | 12:20 UK time, Friday, 11 January 2008

As journalists trawl through the list of Peter Hain's donors - wealthy friends from Wales, Formula One and PR - the most worrying revelation for him has come in . The FT quotes one of those who gave money to Hain via a sympathetic organisation rather than directly, as being unaware of this arrangement. What's more, Willie Nagel, who also lent Hain's campaign £25,000 is said to want his money back asap.

Tricky.

PS. In my list of problems facing Hain, I forgot to mention investigation by the parliamentary authorities for failing to declare the money.

Where is this list? If all the journalists seem to have it why don't we?

Glad to hear journalists are doing their job though I would be more pleased if journalists actually unearthed and investigated news, news, that we are unaware of.

He'll be lucky to survive this. I can't see him quitting as he enjoys the power and lifestyle too much to return to the backbenches. Hain will only quit if Gordon tells him to and gives him no other option.

Interesting new insight on David Cornock's blog (³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Wales Corrs).

You are quite right to highlight the problems of Peter Hain. I hope for the sake of balance you will turn your attention to George Osborne and David Cameron and the £483k donation. Can you tell us/find out the names of the other shadow ministers (alleged by the Daily Mail) who have received similar donations?
